State and local governments face an unprecedented health and economic crisis that has already begun to wreak havoc on local finances. How can New York City best manage this fiscal crisis? Moderator, BARBARA VAN ALLEN, President, The Economic Club of New York, spoke with Maria Doulis, VP of the Citizens Budget Commission, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank dedicated to influencing constructive change in the finances and services of New York State and New York City governments. Maria has written extensively on topics such as performance budgeting, municipal labor relations, the public workforce, infrastructure policy, and urban competitiveness. This webinar will explore lessons learned from past fiscal crises and discuss options for contending with the current revenue implosion.

The transition by so many workplaces (and social gatherings!) to the digital sphere has seen a huge increase in the use of the platform Zoom. To offer our members assistance navigating this new tool, we asked Zoom to create a program for Forum members to teach the basic features and functions of this versatile program. The tutorial was led by Meghan Drum, Manager for Customer Success at Zoom.

Ty Heath, Global Lead of LinkedIn’s B2B Institute presented a program created specifically for Forum members entitled: “How to Become a Thought Leader on LinkedIn.” Digital enhances the way executives engage with their audiences and express their views. Increasingly, leaders are expected to share their insights and ideas on social media making it essential to develop an effective approach. Ty teaches participants how to use LinkedIn to promote ideas and perspectives to establish themselves as thought leaders among their professional networks.

Thursday, April 9th, 2020: Navigating Healthcare Options When Coverage Ends

MAURA CARLEY, President & CEO, Healthcare Navigation LLC  lead a conversation that included participation by Forum colleagues: EMILY RAFFERTY, President Emerita of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and EUGENIA ULASEWICZ, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Bunzl plc, Hudson Group, Signet Jewelers and Vince Holding Corp., to discuss the challenging environment we are in due to extensive job loss and associated loss of healthcare coverage. Maura, and her colleague at Healthcare Navigation, Sarah Gravelin, reviewed key considerations when coverage is abruptly lost including going on Medicare, COBRA and/or the individual marketplace and on-exchange vs. off-exchange plans.
